The mascara that's beyond belief?

Hi every-one, an update from camp here...I've got a job!! Wait - It gets better, I'm going to be on the beauty team of an amazing PR agency working for some brilliant clients and I cannot wait! So SO excited for my first day tomorrow and of course what better way to spend my last day off than a good old trip to the shops.

So I found myself wandering around the beauty counters in John Lewis, as I usually do, and stopped at the Benefit counter, as I usually do. I had a purpose today though, I have been dying to try the new 'They're real' mascara. The new mascara has been designed with long and short brushes so all lashes are coated, and to say the least I was excited to try the new wonder product.

But, I have to say I was disappointed. My lashes clumped together, and I also had itchy eyes which wasn't very nice to walk round the rest of the shops with! I'm not sure if it was how the assistant put it on, or if it was the actual product but I really didn't like it. I will try it again for good measure but my current rating of the product is 3/10. It has good lasting power but my eyelashes look like spider legs which isn't a great look!

Friends with benefits

Not only is beauty blogging a great way to pass your spare time, but it has a lot of benefits too. A couple of weeks ago I was invited to a beauty blog event by the lovely Purple PR, and I jumped at the chance to go and meet the team, drink free wine and try on new beauty products. I'm not even exaggerating ladies, I walked in, took a big glass of rose (with a few...OK around 20 olives) and headed straight to the Laura Mercier stand.

I'm a huge fan of Laura Mercier products anyway but the products that are hitting the shops soon completely won me over. I was oohing and aahing over a gorgeous new stick eye colour for about an hour and am so excited to buy it on pay day! It gives such bold, radiant colour that lasts and lasts. After testing on my hand it stayed put after washing my hands throughout the evening. Ok so it faded a bit but how often are you likely to wash your eyes unless you want the product to come off? My rating for Laura Mercier stick eye colour: 8/10. Great stay-put power but needs a few more colours in the collection.

I was also converted to Smashbox products, having never tried the products before it wasn't the brand I was most excited to be previewing. Saying that, I was extremely impressed with the different primers for different finishes and the bright bold colours in the collection.

*My tip* If you're on the look-out for a primer try Smashbox. They can be pricey but seriously worth it, I was extremely impressed with what I tried and now have one more thing on my wish list.
